Robert Wolcott

Robert Wolcott started the next "chapter" in the family succession in the Lukens business.

He was A.F. Huston's son-in-law, married to his daughter Alice. Wolcott, born in western Pennsylvania, managed the New Orleans plant, where the Lukens warehouse was and then succeeded A.F. Huston as president at the age of 32.

Wolcott managed to keep the company afloat during rough years that included the depression and wars. He served on the national boards for scrap, when metal scrap was needed during the World War II. He was president from 1925-1949, then became Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Wolcott was Director of American Iron and Steel Institute; a member of the Philadelphia Committee, in American Newcomen; and a member of the Committee for North America, in The Newcomen Society of England.

Under Mr. Wolcott's leadership, the family and company traditions were fully lived up to.
