112-inch Mill was a three high mill: as the slab came out of the furnace it would go into the mill then would have to be reversed. A lift would hoist the rolls up and it would be forced reverse via gravity three times. There were times where the steel would cool and side furnaces were needed; the rolling process would stop so the furnace could bring the steel back up to its temperature, anywhere from 1800-2200 degrees. The 112-inch mill was also used as a slabbing mill whereas the ingots would come through the 112 mill before going to the 120 Mill.
